The YouthHoopz.org concept is the brainchild of local athletic directors, Chip Hare (Piqua) and Mitch Hoying (Sidney). Both are former basketball coaches and players who saw a need for moderation. Their mindset was to create a league of “like” schools wishing to offer a developmental basketball program with the gradients to more competition in the higher elementary grades, and to do this with minimal effort.

Lofty goals, no doubt… But with the cooperation of area schools and communities, the “idea” will officially become a reality on December 1, 2021. The charter members are Sidney, Piqua, Greenville and Fairborn. Currently, the league is covering grades 3 thru 6, for both girls and boys.

Teams are divided into pods of three teams and play a round robin at rotating sites each weekend for seven (7) weeks, culminating with a tournament at the season’s end. Games are scheduled to begin the weekend of December 4th/5th.

This season, the league includes teams from Sidney, Piqua, Greenville, Fairlawn, Covington, Troy, Houston, West Carrollton, Miami East, and Lima.
